It’s about 7:00 AM right now in early November, 42 degrees out, and I’m sitting on my balcony enjoying my ice coffee. I can make that statement because I’m perfectly toasty wearing my Nomad Selk bag. Underneath it I’m wearing my typical working-from-home comfy clothes, fleece pants and a fleece pullover. I say this is a game-changer for cold weather because I don’t think I would be sitting outside if i were NOT wearing my Nomad. Yes, I have very warm layers and jackets and pants on hand, but getting them on and off is a hassle, and even when they’re on, they add a level of bulk that makes it not super-comfortable to be sitting down. Selk bags solve that; you can pop them on and off really quickly and they don’t add much bulk; they’re like wearing a coverall that just happens to be very warm.
I’m looking forward to see what other scenarios my Nomad will serve me well; I plan on taking it camping soon and plan to wear it while sitting around the campfire as well as sleeping it.
Sizing… i’m 5’ 8.5” and a little on the chunkier side and went with the large. I mostly wear it without the booties and it’s sized correctly for how I use it. I’m now starting to wear the booties and they “justfit”; I can feel my toes pressing at the end. I don’t think I would wear them if I were doing anything active because 1. It would be a little too constricting, and 2. I’d prefer to have actual treads on the soles of my feet so as not to slip. But for lounging and laying around, the booties work for me.
