Stop Complaining! How to Win the War Against Winter

Waking up to three feet of pure snow would probably put us in a bad mood too. However, mumbling under your breath, dragging your feet like they are strapped with two bricks, and frowning all day won’t make the snow go away. Instead, you’ll just be left with more frown lines. Come on, you know that winter is coming every year unless you live in California! The seasons follow the same order and no, we did not skip fall this year and jump straight to winter. By now, you should be a professional!  We have a few ways you can not only win every battle this winter but also come away as the winners of this winter war.

Bring Out the Layers

If you are from the west coast, more specifically California, then thin hoodies and flip-flops won’t cut it for the steep winter temperatures. Layering may seem self-explanatory to most, but you probably aren’t doing it right. Layering the thinnest pieces in your closet won’t do much to keep you warm. Instead, start with a base shirt or top that keeps out the wind and the cold. Place a sweater over that, then finish layering with a hard outer shell. At home or in the office, we usually put on our Selk’bag and call it a day.

Portable Heater

Whether you are at home or at your office desk, you’ill need your own portable heater. As we mentioned earlier, the thermostat wars are serious business in the office and since you want to conserve your electricity bill this month, then turning on the heater is a big no. This where a portable heater comes in. Get one for your desk and one for your room. Once your toes start to turn numb from the cold, it’s time to break out the portable heating system.

Stop Sleeping All Day

Winter is just one of those seasons that makes us want to fall asleep and never get up. Unlike summer, when everyone is out having fun and mingling, during winter most people are usually curled up in bed for the second day in a row. Well, this also explains why you feel really cold. Get up, walk around your home, and get your blood circulation moving. Throw in a few push-ups for good measure. Once you finish struggling with those, you’ll notice that it is not really that cold anymore.

Cold weather sucks sometimes. But hey, stop complaining and do something about it.
